Canton Ticino is the southernmost canton of Switzerland. The official language is Italian. The main cities are Lugano, Mendrisio, Bellinzona and Locarno.

Lugano lies in a bay on the northern side of Lake Lugano, surrounded by numerous mountains. It’s the Switzerland’s third most important financial centre and a conference, banking and business centre, but also a town of parks, villas, museums and builiding of high architectural value.

The Department of Architecture, Building environment and Design (managing the MAS in Interaction Design) is located in Canobbio, nearby the city of Lugano.

IT Support

The IT service provides SUPSI users with assistance and advice. It also manages the servers, the network and the local work stations.


The Library provides a broad range of books and international journals representing the many subject areas. The seven separate libraries also offer multimedia instruments and numerous individual study areas.

Centre for Languages and International Relations (CLIR)

The Centre organises German and English language courses for SUPSI students and Italian language courses for foreign students, with two main objectives: fostering study exchanges (Erasmus), and facilitating the process of finding employment. CLIR also operates two international examination centres: the Southern Switzerland Goethe-Institut Examination Centre, and the Southern Switzerland Cambridge Examination Centre.


This Service promotes specific projects and awarenessraising action in order to integrate the gender dimension and equal-opportunity issues.


The Sport Service promotes the practice of a broad range of physical and sporting activities for students, teachers and collaborators.


The Counselling Service offers psychological support to those with personal, interpersonal, emotional or relational difficulties, related to the university and/or professional sphere.

Careers Service

This Service advises future students regarding the various courses conducted by SUPSI. It also aims to provide students and graduates with careers advice, in order to facilitate their entrance into the world of work.

Centre for Start-up Promotions

The Centre addresses all those who intend to launch a business in Canton Ticino, providing potential new entrepreneurs with answers to questions of a technical, management , administrative, legal and financial nature concerning the start-up of a new business.
